Data
and Maps is a collection of data layers and ArcGIS layers (symbology and
labeling), including boundary, demographic, basemap, and
thematic layers for the United States, Europe, and the world. There is
commercial data from TomTom, Michael Bauer Research, Garmin, and Esri; federal
data from the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and The National Map Small-Scale (formerly National
Atlas of the United States); and data from the United Nations (UN).
Data
and Maps contains data
that is useful for general purpose basemaps and for more specific uses. General
basemap information is available for the United States and the world. The
significant basemap layers include boundaries, cities, rivers, and roads.
Data and Maps is also available from My Esri.
Each
data layer includes ArcGIS metadata and an ArcGIS layer file displaying symbols, labels, and classifications for the data layer when opened in ArcGIS.
Consult the ArcGIS Data and Maps Redistribution Rights document to determine the redistribution rights for each data layer. Review this information carefully before redistributing any of this data.
This
group provides data layers as layer packages and hosted feature layers
(services). The layer packages can be opened in ArcGIS or
downloaded. The feature layers can be opened in ArcGIS, Map Viewer, and Scene
Viewer.
The ArcGIS Data and Maps group presents data layers for the following areas:
- World: global data layers including country boundaries, cities, and the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zones Grid.
- United States: data layers for the USA including states, counties, census data, ZIP Codes, congressional districts, and landmarks.
- Europe: data layers for Europe—NUTS (Nomenclature des Unités Territoriales Statistiques) aggregated socioeconomic and demographic layers.
