Description

This map shows the speed and air pressure maintained by hurricanes between 1924 and 2014. This is shown by using the new relationship mapping style within ArcGIS Online. 

The colors show where the wind speed is high/low or the pressure is high/low. Hurricanes are the strongest when pressure is low and wind speed is high. This is shown using pink within the map, and sits at the top of the grid within the Legend. When the hurricane path is blue, there is low speed and high pressure (usually when the hurricane is forming or dying down). When the path is purple, there is high speed, but also higher pressure (the hurricane is still causing strong weather, but the hurricane itself is not as strong).

The data comes from the Living Atlas layer, "Major Global Cyclones, 1924-2014".
